Early Years (Reception)

Regent International School offers a broad, balanced and enriched early years programme for learners aged 4 to 6 years. Uniquely designed and recognisably distinct, this 3-year programme comprising Reception for 4-year-olds, Year 1 for 5-year-olds and Year 2 for 6-year-olds, offers a blended learning environment that ensures a pathway of seamless learning to the next level-Key Stage 2.

A Framework for Excellence

By understanding the broad spectrum of early learners, we have crafted an innovative learning framework at our kindergarten school in Malaysia. We are proud of our stimulating learning environment, which prioritises hands-on learning experiences and is designed to engage children as soon as they enter the classroom. This promotes the development of independent, confident children who know how to communicate and cooperate with one another.

Areas of Learning

At Regent International School, we focus on several key areas of learning through hands-on, play-based experiences:

Literacy

We encourage reading, writing and language development as well as phonetic awareness.

Numeracy

We create a foundation for understanding maths and problem-solving.

Social-emotional Development

We focus on empathy, self-awareness and relationship building.

Physical Development

We offer opportunities to develop gross and fine motor skills.

Science Exploration

We introduce scientific concepts and skills in an immersive and engaging way.

Creative Arts

We provide music, movement and visual arts experiences.

Social Studies

We incorporate history, geography and cultural understanding into our early years curriculum.

Leveraging Early Years Curiosity

As the best preschool in Malaysia, we recognise that young learners develop their understanding of the world through sensory experiences as well as through interaction with people, objects and their environment. Our educators actively work to foster children’s curiosity by developing play-based centres and immersive lessons that allow them to explore their interests.

Strong Focus on Personal Attention

Regent also implements “Circle Time”, which is a strategy used by our early years educators which involves children sitting in a circle around the teacher. During these sessions, our students talk about personal activities, sing songs, review previous activities, revise knowledge content, play instruments and games as well as read storybooks. Such activities are devised often to support our students in developing self-esteem and gearing them towards taking responsibility of their own.
